Travellers from Dallas Fort Worth International (DFW) Airport will have another destination in the South Pacific to choose from. With the new non-stop service of American Airlines to Auckland, New Zealand travellers can fly directly from Dallas to Auckland without any delay. The service will be available for sale on November 9, 2019, and flights will operate from October 2020 with American’s state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9.
Auckland, located on the North Island of New Zealand, is the country’s largest city. It is host to major sporting events, festivals, high-end shopping and concerts. Also, this place is famous world-class food and wine. The city is full of art galleries, museums, and Māori cultural attractions including contemporary art, history, and guided tours. In addition to this, there are Forty-eight volcanic cones across Auckland.
“The addition of non-stop service between DFW Airport and Auckland is great news for our customers and all of North Texas. It gives more choices to the millions who pass through our Airport annually and provide economic benefit to the entire region,” said Sean Donohue, chief executive officer at DFW Airport. “Our partnership with American Airlines continues to bring record growth for DFW Airport, with more passengers during the past year than the Airport has seen in any of the past 15 years.”
The Airport welcomed 73.3 million customers during fiscal year 2019, a 6.1 percent increase from the previous year. Also, it has added or announced non-stop service to 30 new destinations since January 2019. The growth is driven in large part by a surge in international service, with DFW Airport welcoming 9.4 million international passengers during fiscal year 2019. This marks an 8.8 percent increase in international passengers compared to the previous year. Auckland is the 14th new international destination added since January 2019.
To continue future growth, DFW Airport remains committed to working closely with American Airlines on plans for Terminal F. While design and operational plans are still being finalized, a long-term projection of up to 24 gates in the new facility will help address the continued growth at the Airport.
