“Seeing that a Pilot steers the ship in which we sail, who will never allow us to perish even in the midst of shipwrecks, there is no reason why our minds should be overwhelmed with fear and overcome with weariness.”- John Calvin
DutyFreeList in conversation with pilot Kyle Gentry, sharing his thoughts on travel and aviation.
How would you describe your 2018, in terms of best cities to visit?
2018 has been a great year for me. I have done a lot of traveling throughout the US, and I have visited more cities over the past year than I have in my entire life. In my experience, I would consider Nashville, San Diego, and Chicago to be excellent travel destinations.
Any unusual request that you came across while on duty via a traveller.
I wouldn’t say that I’ve had any unusual requests from a traveller, but my personal request is when a child asks to step into the cockpit. Nothing is better than seeing a kid get excited over aviation.
What is the secret to managing work and life with grace?
Managing work and life is all about balance. Although work is essential, you need to make time to focus on yourself, your family, and your friends. Since I travel a lot for work, I make sure to keep in touch with my family and friends on a daily basis. As long as you strive to make time for what’s important to you, your life should flow with ease.
3 strengths according to you is a must-have in this profession.
Do you use any travel related app(s)? If yes, what are they?
The only travel apps that I use are related to booking hotel rooms or homes, such as Expedia or Airbnb.
